IN THE WORDS OF THE ARTIST HIMSELF

‘Does it still make sense to speak of a painter’s anxieties? I have made a habit of blaming my own on my painting. But painting doesn’t actually come into it. My drama is nothing more nor less than the human drama, and my aim to attain a sense of unity of being…

For the past few years I have been obsessed with the idea of copying photos. I convinced myself that this process would allow me to come closer to a universal reality fit for our times. This eccentric activity offers me a manner of existing. Until that point, all other manipulation of paint left me with a deep feeling of dissatisfaction. It took me fifteen years to realise that this was the method of painting that reflected my true desires as an artist…

In the face of life, or of painting, I have at last found the way to remain the same person throughout…

I naturally wish that the discerning viewer will also be able to gain some valuable insight via my work…’
